Alpha v1.0.0 - Game Off 2021 Release!

DEBUGGED has launched its first Alpha version! Huzzah!

I'm super happy with how it turned out, even with its bugs and quirks. This is my first game, so there's bound to be some things that went wrong. Especially since it was created in only a month! But either way, I'm happy with this first release, and I'm excited to develop this more in the future.

To go along with it, I made a trailer for the game. Check it out here!

This game evolved from an idea I had for a while. I wanted to make a roguelite platformer that focused on exploring a dark, maze-like dungeon, and I wanted there to be three different ways of playing the game. Three unique ways of clearing every room, of defeating every boss, of escaping the dungeon. So, with spoonsweet's help, we created a computer-bug-themed version of this idea.

Big thanks to spoonsweet for the wonderful sprites and for helping me flesh out my scramble of ideas! Lots of the abilities were his ideas, and I wouldn't have thought of them otherwise. I couldn't have made DEBUGGED as it is now without him, and certainly not in the big time crunch!

Now it's worth reiterating that this is an Alpha release. DEBUGGED, as of Alpha v1.0.0, has nowhere near as many features as I initially wanted. But that's okay! It is a great proof of concept in my opinion, and it really shows the feel and vibe of the game. Naturally, there is much more to do. Lots to fix, lots to add, and lots to improve. Below is a list of current features, and a future to-do list.

Current Features

- 12 abilities: 6 active and 6 passive

- 3 ability paths: called Red, Green, and Blue, each with 3 unique abilities

- 3 enemies

-1 boss

- Procedural map generation

- 24 rooms, 13 with enemies

- 3 track OST

Future Development

- Room rewards: hearts, currency, more?

- Permanent unlocks via "memory leaks"

- Lots more abilites

- Loads more rooms

- Plenty more enemies

- Even more bosses

- Regions

- Some form of a story that progresses when clearing a run

- NPCs, shops maybe?

- More as I think of it!

...but for now, let's enjoy the game for what it is! I hope you enjoy playing DEBUGGED as much as I enjoyed programming it. <3
